You may feel old and disconnected at times, as we all do. But at times like this, you could hardly be more relevant, and your insights and perspectives will never be more valued. Like the teenage angst that the Who still sing about, tough economic times challenge every generation. Be a leader and share your experience with the generations behind you. It will help to ease anxiety and restore confidence. And it could stem any loss in employee engagement across the generational divide.

I believe that employees have a greater appreciation for what is happening in the world around them than many leaders give them credit for. Moreover, I think that many companies are in the mode of wanting to deliver only positive news and are reluctant to deliver negative news and they try to spin it or obfuscate it.
